Aussie lives on.....!

So many of you who have been following this blog have met and shared kisses with our special winery dog circa 1999 - 2008, Aussie. It's been a little over a year since he has passed away and we miss him! This is a link to his tribute if you happened to have missed it.
Aussie modeling the lime-green fork lift in style.

I took this photo of Aussie sitting in a blanket of golden leaves on a warm fall day.

After 8 years with Aussie beside us each day, we decided to dedicate the Malbec wine to him.

It sells out quickly every year!
So after our hearts started to heal after the death of Aussie, we started thinking it was time to look for a new pup.
The search began...we looked online, in the papers, and both Mike and I agreed that there are too many homeless dogs in the pounds and we felt the right thing to do was to adopt a dog in need of a home from the animal shelter.
It's heart-breaking to visit the pounds; they all put the puppy-dog eyes into effect and it breaks my heart to not take them all home with me. Mike had some work to finish up and trusted that I would find the right dog (some big shoes to fill after Aussie!) and sure enough, our Baby Dahli and I had a connection. I took her home the next day and she instantly was comfortable running around and giving us so much love!
Here is Dahli, our flower-pup:

We think she is 1/3 fox, 1/3 hyena, 1/3 human!

Now THESE are puppy eyes!

Friends have been asking....will the Malbec label still grace Aussie's face? A lot of people said they would like to see him stay on the Malbec...well, here's what we decided to do in Aussie's honor:

We've been BLESSED with both Aussie and Dahli's love, and have heard so many similar stories of friends adopting animals from shelters.
In return we have decided to donate the new 2007 vintage of the Malbec to the Idaho Humane Society's 19th annual Lawn Party's LIVE AUCTION. The winning bidder's doggie will be featured on the label for the entire production of 2007. A portion of each Malbec purchase will also go towards the Idaho Humane Society.
We encourage you to attend this Lawn Party and contribute to this wonderful charity. If you cannot attend, know that by purchasing this new vintage, when released in August, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Idaho Humane Society.

Flowers

Ok, another photo post. I took these shots last week. They are all flowers around the tasting room. Everything is looking so beautiful at the winery right now, flowers, vineyard, and the Catalpa trees are blooming as well. Click on the image for a larger view:
